War of words - Sanjay Raut accused in defamation of Ahmedabad

Samjay Raut, the leader of Shiv Sena and Bollywood’s Kangana Ranaut have been staged in bitter fight of words ever since the actress termed Mumbai unsafe and equated it to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) following the death of the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Kangana Ranaut was given the Mumbai police protection by BJP leader Ram Kadam through the Sena-led state government while on her journey to expose Bollywood’s drug nexus, after her comment on Mumbai being ‘unsafe’ after the actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The Mumbai police protection was declined by the actress Kangana saying that she feared the Mumbai police more than the movie mafia and that she would prefer security from Himachal Pradesh or the Centre. Replying to the same, Sanjay Raut requested her not to come to Mumbai.

Reacting to Sanjay Raut’s reply, Kangana tweeted, "Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena leader has given me an open threat and asked me not to come back to Mumbai. After Aazadi graffiti in Mumbai streets and now, open threats, why does Mumbai feel like Pakistan occupied Kashmir?".

Following which the war of words between the actress and the Shiv Sena leader began. Sanjay Raut made some derogatory comments about the actress and asked her to apologise to Maharashtra for calling Mumbai ‘mini Pakistan’ after which he said he will think about seeking forgiveness with her. He also questioned her if she had the courage to call the state of Ahmedabad a ‘mini Pakistan’.

The Gujarat BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya accused Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut of ‘defaming’ Gujarat by calling Ahmedabad a ‘mini Pakistan’ and demanded an apology from Sanjay Raut to the people of Gujarat and Ahmedabad for the comment that he made.

Pandya further went on to say “This is the Gujarat of Gandhiji and Sardar Patel. Sardar Patel has strengthened the unity and integrity of India by uniting 562 kingdoms. Junagadh and Hyderabad were prevented from going to Pakistan and made to stay in India due to his guts and strength,”. Pandya added that Patel’s dream of making Kashmir an integral part of India by revoking Article 370 has been fulfilled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah who are from Gujarat.“Therefore, Gujarat’s contribution to India’s unity and integrity in the past and present should be remembered,” he said.

Later, Pandya said the Sena should stop using any opportunity to defame Gujarat, Gujaratis and leaders from Gujarat “by targeting them out of jealousy, hatred and malice”.
