Democrat Jerry Nadler claims ANTIFA violence in Portland is a myth

On Sunday, high ranking democrat Jerry Nadler told the press the riots in Portland were a myth only being spread in Washington DC. Nadler’s claim runs counter to ample video evidence all over social media and it also contradicts the DHS’s statement about the happenings in Portland.

The statement reads,” The violent situation Portland has witnessed for the past eight weeks continues with violent anarchists rioting on the streets as federal law enforcement officers work diligently and honorably to enforce federal law, defend federal property, and protect the lives of their fellow officers,”

Journalist Austin Fletcher approached Nadler and inquired about the New York rep. 's stance on the Antifa riots taking place since the last 8 weeks to which Nadler responded,” that's a myth only being spread in Washington DC.

A man who appeared to be the congressman’s aide whisked him away to a car nearby as the reporter continued to press him and even pointed out that there's plenty of video evidence available showing Antifa rioters burning and looting throughout the city.

In the US, many believe Antifa is allied with Democrats and some will also say it is formed by leftists who were against Trump. They are mostly seen negatively by voters and this perception is only stronger among those who claim to closely follow reporting. While it's true, the group got more popular after the 2016 election this is solely due to the fact that far right nationalists started feeling bolder after Trump’s election. The group is relatively old and was started in Germany in response to the Hitler regime.

Antifa, as a whole, does not align itself with democrats nor is there any official anti-fascist action. When one may consider themself as allied with democrats, another person may not. A clear example of this is Chelsea Manning, an anti-fascist who ran for office as a democrat, but instead caused her to become a divisive topic in anti-fascist and leftist circles.
